Roads Bill Update
the south carolina roads coalition... which is made up of state business leaders... is pushing the state house to pass a plan to fix our roads. the house bill would raise the gas tax by ten cents a gallon... by going up two cents a year for five years. the bill's sponsor
expects the house to debate it next week. business leaders say the state must have a long term plan to pay for roads. "it is a win, as we said, for it's certainly a win for increase in jobs."
it could be tougher to pass in the senate. senator tom davis has blocked road bills the last two years. but he says he may not block this one because it includes more reforms to the state department of transportation.
